At a private party, a group of masked assassins tries to capture Caesar, but Veerayya foils their plans and reveals they are RAW agents.

Caesar offers Veerayya anything he wants in return for saving his life, and Veerayya asks him to come back to India. Caesar finds out about their plan and they get busted. Veerayya kills Caesar at a public fair, where Michael Solomon, Caesar’s elder brother, witnesses everything.

The storyline of Waltair Veerayya

Four years ago, Michael, disguised as a fisherman named Kaala secretly supplied drugs to Veerayya’s ice factory. Veerayya was unaware of Michael’s actions. ACP Vikram Sagar, Veerayya’s half-brother, arrived in Vizag and began cracking down on the drug syndicate.

Sagar had developed hatred towards Veerayya after an accident during their childhood. However, Veerayya always loved Sagar. Sagar was happily married to Dr. Nithya, and they had a daughter named Vaishnavi.

Sagar traced the origin of drugs in Veerayya’s locality, but Michael managed to keep his cover. One day, the ice factory accidentally supplied cocaine, wrapped in ice, to a school, resulting in the deaths of 25 children.

Michael framed Veerayya and planned to escape to Malaysia. Veerayya was arrested, and the police decided to kill him in an encounter to calm the public rage. Sagar believed that Veerayya was innocent and looted the seized drugs to lure Michael.

He secretly arrived at the planned encounter shooting in place of Veerayya to nab Michael. However, the JCP, who was Sagar’s senior officer, was in cahoots with Michael.

He fatally stabbed Sagar, along with Michael’s men. Michael managed to escape as Veerayya arrived, revealing his true identity.

Veerayya tried to take a heavily injured Sagar to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way, revealing that he always had affection for Veerayya but couldn’t express it publicly due to his crackdown on the drug syndicate. Veerayya was stopped by the police and taken away.

Sagar was deprived of state honors and labeled a traitor by the police. Heartbroken, Veerayya decided to extradite Michael to India for his testimony in court. In the present, Veerayya sets Michael up against his drug partner by blowing up his base of operations.

The rival gang attempts to kill Michael, but he agrees to come to India with Veerayya and testify in court in exchange for his life. With the help of Athithi, Veerayya brings Michael back to India.

Following Michael’s testimony, the court recognizes Sagar’s valor and grants him state honors, while also acquitting Veerayya of his charges. To fulfill Sagar’s last wish of avenging the children’s deaths, Veerayya severs Michael’s head in the courtroom and is sentenced to prison.

Production of Waltair Veerayya

In August 2021, it was announced that Chiranjeevi and K. S. Ravindra, also known as Bobby, would collaborate on a film tentatively titled Mega154. The production was to be done by Mythri Movie Makers.

The film was officially launched in November 2021, and in April 2022, Chiranjeevi accidentally revealed that the film is titled Waltair Veerayya. The title was officially confirmed in October 2022.

Bobby wrote the story and dialogues, which were scripted by Kona Venkat and K. Chakravarthy Reddy. Arthur A. Wilson was signed on as the cinematographer, while Niranjan Devaramane was the editor.

In March 2022, Ravi Teja joined the cast, reuniting with Chiranjeevi after 22 years since their last collaboration in Annayya (2000). Teja reportedly plays his brother, a police officer who poses as a mafia don.

Shruti Haasan was paired opposite Chiranjeevi, while Catherine Tresa plays Teja’s wife. Nawazuddin Siddiqui was initially approached to play the antagonist, but due to scheduling conflicts, he was replaced by Bobby Simha.

Malayalam actor Biju Menon was also offered a role in the film but was replaced by Prakash Raj. In early November 2022, Urvashi Rautela was roped in to do a special appearance in a song.

Principal photography commenced in December 2021 in Hyderabad, and in April 2022, the second schedule began with Haasan joining the sets in Vishakapatnam.

In July 2022, the third schedule commenced with Teja joining the sets. A schedule was also held in Malaysia.
